Elizabeth Joachim, MD PhD
Hi! I’m Elizabeth and I’m coming to Abrazo EM from the corn fields of central Illinois. Originally from the Chicago suburbs, I went to undergrad at Texas A&M University (gig ‘em!) where I studied a bit of everything including engineering, neuroscience, philosophy, and psychology. I returned to my home state for medical school at the University of Illinois College of Medicine. After M1 I joined the Medical Scholars Program spending the next 7 years studying the use of gelatin nanoparticles for the treatment of ischemic stroke and earning a PhD in Bioengineering. Having been drawn to EM since M1, I was happy to find my passion undiminished upon my return to clinical training. I’m currently interested in pediatric EM, social EM, and ultrasound. In my free time I like travel, baking, quilting, and spending time (preferably outdoors) with my husband, daughter, 4 dogs, and 2 cats.
