Hayley Young, MD
I was born and raised in the beautiful but rainy city of Seattle, Washington. I studied Film in college and worked as a video editor, lifeguard, nanny, and clothing store associate before deciding to change careers and return to school to become a doctor. I completed the majority of my premedical classes in NYC, where I also worked at the Columbia-Presbyterian Emergency Department in Washington Heights. This sparked my interest in Emergency Medicine, which was later confirmed after completing adult and pediatric EM rotations in medical school. I love the fast pace, teamwork, variety of acuity, and the combination of diagnostics and procedures. I find it meaningful to support patients during what is often the most stressful time of their lives. Within Emergency Medicine I am particularly interested in pediatrics, forensics, and medical education.
I chose Abrazo because everyone during my interview seemed down-to-earth and passionate. Also, I knew I wanted a residency which provided me with urban, level I trauma experience in addition to stroke, STEMI, and single-provider ED rotations, and Abrazo offers all of the above.
Outside of medicine I enjoy visual art, photography, dancing, swimming, hiking, surfing, and skateboarding. I am super excited for Arizona’s warm, sunny climate!
