I was born and raised in the beautiful state of Oregon, where I completed my undergraduate studies at Oregon State University; and I still claim to be both a Beaver and a Duck…yes, you can do that! I attended Medical School at UCLA / Charles Drew University, where I focused my attention on healthcare for the urban underserved and homeless adolescents. I then chose to specialize in Family Medicine, in order to be trained in the full spectrum of Medicine, and to be well prepared to pursue a career that involved Rural and International Medicine. The Ventura Family Medicine Residency in Ventura, CA, offered me that excellent training and this is where I completed my residency.

After residency, I pursued a fellowship in Maternal and Fetal Medicine at PCC Community Wellness Center in Oak Park, Illinois. There I learned how to manage high risk obstetric patients and perfected my Cesarean Section skills. After working as a Hospitalist in Ventura, CA for a year, I realized that the best way to combine my interests in Hospital Medicine, Obstetrics, International Medicine, and teaching was to seek a faculty position.

My significant other, Joel, and I decided to move from sunny California, to sunnier Phoenix, for him to pursue his interests in Global Health and Non Profit Management at ASU. In additional be being a student, he is also working in the PBH Emergency Department, as an RN. It is with great excitement that I join the Phoenix Baptist Hospital Family Medicine Residency Faculty. I am honored to be a part of this great family and to help train future doctors in full spectrum Family Medicine. I hope to particularly share my excitement about Obstetrics and Women’s Health, International Medicine, and I look forward involving the community of Phoenix Baptist in my future International Medicine and humanitarian efforts.
