Lorna Maxson
With 48 years of nursing and health care leadership experience, Lorna Maxson was appointed to Chief Nursing Officer at Phoenix Baptist Hospital in 2013.
Prior to transferring to Phoenix Baptist Hospital from sister facility Arrowhead Hospital, Maxson served as the Chief Nursing Officer of Nursing and Clinical Operations for Arrowhead Hospital. In this capacity, she provided leadership, direction, and administration for all hospital activities related to patient services. These services included nursing, pharmacy, laboratory, rehabilitation services, diagnostic imaging, administrative supervisors, and chaplaincy.
Her experience also includes a position as nursing manager for 13 years at Phoenix Baptist Hospital where she was responsible for the development, opening, and subsequent management of the Emergency Center, along with a survival flight helicopter program and urgent care facility.
Maxson received a nursing degree from the University of Louisville and completed a bachelor’s in health care administration from Ottawa University.
Her accomplishments include the 2008 Health Care Leadership Award for the Nursing/Nursing Advocate Category, the 2008 Vanguard Health Systems Circle of Excellence Special Achievement Winner, the 2007 Vanguard Health Systems Circle of Excellence Quality Pillar Winner, and the 2006 Vanguard Health Systems Management Team Award for Arrowhead Hospital.
She has served as past president of the Arizona Organization for Nurse Executives and is a member of the Arizona Nurses Association and the Arizona Association of Health Care Recruiters.
