Abrazo celebrates Heart Month
Jan 31, 2022PHOENIX – Abrazo Health is celebrating American Heart Month! As home of one of the West’s premier cardiovascular programs, Abrazo offers the public many ways to participate in education and screenings during the month of February. Whether it’s weekly emails, screening events or webinars, many easy-to access options are available to help improve heart health.
Abrazo Arizona Heart Hospital is kicking off Heart Month with Wear Red Day on Friday, February 4.
“The day is a reminder for women to take control of their heart health, as well as wearing red to raise awareness and recognize all the work that is accomplished by our staff and physicians,” said Abrazo Arizona Heart Hospital President Phil Fitzgerald. “Together, we can encourage others to ‘listen to their heart.’ Our staff can wear red on the fourth as well as every Friday in February.”
Visitors to AbrazoHeath.com can sign up for the Heart Health Challenge. Weekly emails with information, recipes and do-at-home exercises that can add up to a healthier heart. “Making a few lifestyle adjustments can have a powerful effect on our heart health,” added Fitzgerald.
Community events are being planned at Abrazo hospitals in Phoenix, Surprise, Glendale and Cave Creek. AngioScreen is a $59 risk assessment that provides information about heart rhythm, blood pressure, BMI and blood flow in the neck and leg arteries following a brief exam. A clinician provides a brief consultation and participants are encouraged to share results with their physician for follow up.
These open house events will also offer blood pressure and heart rhythm checks at no charge for those not participating in the AngioScreen screenings. Masking and other precautions will be in place for the on-site events. Click here to register for one of the events or call 888-602-3648.

The Women’s Virtual Heart Health Series featuring female physicians from Abrazo Health are also on tap during Heart Month. The Zoom webinars will offer insight into heart disease and how to know if you may be at risk. All presentations begin at Noon; schedule and topics include:

Abrazo Arizona Heart Hospital was one of the first hospitals in the United States dedicated to treating patients with heart and cardiovascular conditions when it opened in 1998. It is the first hospital in the western United States to hold American College of Cardiology accreditation for treatment of chest pain, cardiac catheterization, heart failure and atrial fibrillation.
Heart disease remains the leading cause of death for men and women in the U.S., according the CDC.
